Tihar is the second greatest festival of Nepal. It called also Yamapanchak. Especially this festival celebrates by Hindus but nowadays most people celebrate it. The Tihar has own religious meaning. On the ancient time there was a brave King named Baliraja and he became sick for a long time and her sister worshiped him and finally recovered from illness so it is continuously following till today. Five days are important in Tihar.
First day we worship to crow. We give them delicious food. Religiously it is harbinger of Yamraj. It is known as also mediator of communication. This day also called Kag Tihar.

Second day we worship to dog because dog is guard of house without salary. We give delicious food as well as garland to them. This day also called Kukur Tihar.
Third day we worship to cow. The cow is known as mother by Hindus. This day we give delicious food and garland to them. In this day all the people of Nepal worship to Maha Laxmi Devi of money. And all the people worship their property. This day also called Gai Tihar.
Fourth day, we worship to ox. The ox is main machine of farmer so all the Nepalese people heartily worship and give them delicious food and garland them. This day also called Hal Tihar.
Fifth day is most important day of Tihar. That day all sister worship to their brother and wish long life, prosperity and happiness life. The relation between sister and brother make very close by this festival. Religiously when sister worship to brother so the whole year brother don’t became sick, always success in every step of deed.

So Tihar is most important for all Nepalese people. It has many reasons for celebrating it. This festival respects to bird, animal as well as good relation to brother and sister.
